The MRI on Orioles reliever Darren O’Day’s left hamstring didn’t reveal a Grade 3 tear, which is the only good news to come from last night’s injury.

The Orioles haven’t announced their roster moves, but Jimmy Yacabonis will replace O’Day on the 25-man roster and Steve Wilkerson will replace outfielder Craig Gentry, who suffered nondisplaced fracture in his rib cage while hit by a pitch Friday night in Atlanta.

Manager Buck Showalter said Wilkerson was chosen for his versatility and he’s a switch-hitter with options.

Gentry doesn’t think he’ll be ready to come off the DL in 10 days and said there’s no timetable. He doesn’t want to risk a more serious injury by trying to play through it.

Dylan Bundy said he knew that he sprained his left ankle while rounding third base Saturday in Atlanta and blames himself for not being better prepared to run. He said he hadn’t run the bases since high school.

Bundy is confident that he’ll make the July 6 start in Minnesota.

Hunter Harvey throws orange.pngDr. James Andrews examined pitcher Hunter Harvey today and the Orioles are gathering the information. Harvey injured his shoulder at Double-A Bowie while trying to avoid a line drive into the dugout.

Showalter was relieved to hear that Bowie outfielder Austin Hays has been told to stay in a walking boot for one more week before attempting workouts. There were concerns in the organization that he might need surgery.

Manny Machado met with Showalter in the manager’s office to discuss his failure to run out a ground ball last night that resulted in a double play. The tiebreaking run scored in the sixth inning, but some fans booed Machado.

“He’s better than that,” Showalter said.

Showalter added, “It’s a really bad presentation and he knows that.”

I wanted to speak with Machado this afternoon, but a reporter had him occupied for an extended period and hitting coach Scott Coolbaugh approached him later. Teammates Jonathan Schoop and Tim Beckham also were engaged in conversations with him and I ran out of time.
