Well, this felt like 1969 all over again.
R.A. Dickey, reminding one of Tom Seaver or Jerry Koosman, shut down the Orioles Friday night as the Mets beat the Birds 5-1 in the opener of the weekend series, in front of 28,554 at Camden Yards.
They were amazin’.

Chris Carter hit a three-run homer in the fourth for a 4-0 Mets lead. It was his first Major League homer.
Losing pitcher Jeremy Guthrie fell to 3-7, 3.83. He gave up four runs and seven hits over seven innings, throwing 111 pitches.
The O’s didn’t score until the seventh when Matt Wieters led off with a single and later came around to score on a wild pitch. Miguel Tejada, Corey Patterson and Nick Markakis had two hits each for Baltimore.
The Orioles, who are now 2-5 on this homestand, have scored just 28 runs in the last 13 games. The Orioles are now 1-3 on the year in Interleague play and 102-131 all time.
Saturday night at 7 p.m. it’s Brian Matusz (2-6, 5.10) facing Hisanori Takahashi (4-2, 3.80).
