Mariñez, 29, signed a minor league contract with the Orioles on Nov. 28, joining his ninth organization. He’s 1-5 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.452 WHIP in 95 major league relief appearances.
Mariñez appeared in 39 games last summer with the Pirates (24), Brewers (15) and Rangers (four) and was 0-3 with a 3.91 ERA and 1.579 WHIP in 50 2/3 innings.
In 38 appearances with Norfolk, including one start, Mariñez has gone 2-3 with a 2.78 ERA and 1.390 WHIP in 45 1/3 innings. He’s walked 12 batters and struck out 46.
The Orioles assigned Mariñez No. 59. He hasn’t pitched in four days.
With the addition of Mariñez, the Orioles’ 40-man roster is full again.
Meisinger allowed two runs and four hits in six innings in four games. He walked one batter, struck out five and surrendered two home runs, including Brian Dozier’s three-run shot Sunday in Minnesota.
The Maryland native made his major league debut on June 29 against the Angels.
