The Orioles are in the final stages of completing a trade that will send shortstop Manny Machado to the Dodgers in exchange for five players, according to an industry source. They’re in the home stretch.
The Dodgers have agreed on the players and there are only some “final points to review,” per the source.

Reports surfaced earlier today, including a tweet from MLB Network Radio’s Steve Phillips, that the deal hit a snag due to concerns over the medicals on at least one of the players. However, I’m told that they’ve been “all but addressed” and aren’t considered a hindrance.
No word on whether an announcement could come later tonight, but ideally the Orioles would like to get it done before boarding a flight to Toronto early Thursday afternoon.
Machado drove back to Baltimore after last night’s All-Star Game in D.C. and waited for clearance to join the Dodgers, who open a weekend series in Milwaukee on Friday night. The Brewers were a finalist for Machado.
Double-A Tulsa outfielder Yusniel DÃaz headlines the return for Machado and there were no medical concerns related to him.
Diaz, 21, homered twice in the All-Star Futures Game and is batting .314/.428/.477 in 59 games, with 10 doubles, four triples, six home runs and 30 RBIs in 220 at-bats.
The process of completing the trade was complicated by the All-Star break, with Major League Baseball wanting Machado to represent the Orioles, and the number of players involved in the deal.
Medical reviews were underway yesterday and continued through today.
Single-A pitcher Dustin May and infielder Gavin Lux aren’t included in the deal despite reports to the contrary.
More to come.
