Alex Cobb is facing his former team for the third time this season. He’s allowed eight earned runs (nine total) and 17 hits in 10 1/3 innings.
Cobb hasn’t been credited with a win since June 5 and both of his victories have come on the road. His 13 losses lead the majors and come with a 6.17 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and .309 average-against.
Carlos Gomez is 2-for-11 against Cobb. Joey Wendle is 3-for-5 in the small sample size category.
Wendle is 14-for-36 (.389) with a double, triple and six RBIs against the Orioles this season.
Right-hander Hunter Wood is making his third major league start tonight and his 11th appearance. He’s worked 15 1/3 innings this season and allowed five runs and 13 hits with seven walks and 14 strikeouts.
Wood hasn’t gone more than three innings in any appearance and his starts have lasted one and two innings. Get the baton ready.
