They still have two openings on the 40-man roster.
Valera, acquired from the Dodgers in the Manny Machado trade, was 1-for-4 with an RBI in his only game with the Orioles. He was batting .229/.310/.364 in 38 games with the Tides.
The Orioles have an extra utility infielder with Valera joining Jace Peterson.

Rookie Austin Wynns is catching Dylan Bundy, who’s 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA and 1.370 WHIP in four career games (three starts) against the Royals.

Alex Gordon is 2-for-6 lifetime against Bundy.

The Royals are starting rookie right-hander Heath Fillmyer, who’s posted a 4.21 ERA and 1.383 WHIP in 12 games, including eight starts. He’s averaging 4.4 walks and 5.3 strikeouts per nine innings.

None of the Orioles have faced Fillmyer.
