Mike Fiers hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs since April 20, a span of nine starts. He’s registered five quality starts in a row.
Right-handed hitters are slashing .195/.276/.403 against Fiers this season and left-handers are batting .265/.308/.422.
Fiers has registered a 2.08 ERA and 0.885 WHIP in four career starts against the Orioles over 26 innings.
Chris Davis is 1-for-9 with a home run and five strikeouts against Fiers. Trey Mancini is 1-for-9 with five strikeouts. Jonathan Villar owns a home run in three at-bats.
The Orioles were swept last year in a three-game series in Oakland. They haven’t swept the A’s on the West Coast since 2005.
The 2018 losses came by scores of 6-4, 2-0 (in 12 innings) and 2-1. The pitchers of record were Brad Brach, Pedro Araujo and Alex Cobb – one who has since been traded, one assigned to Double-A Bowie and one recovering from season-ending hip surgery.

Double-A Bowie outfielder Yusniel Diaz has been chosen as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of June 10-16. Diaz posted a .364 average (8-for-22) with two doubles, three home runs, 12 RBIs, seven runs scored, four walks, and a .864 slugging percentage in six games.
