The Orioles are trailing again and look rather listless tonight.
There is time to come back again, but one of these nights, they won’t be able to.
According to Elias, the O’s are the first Major League team to win four straight games while erasing a deficit of at least three or more runs in each game since Detroit did it in the first four games of its franchise history. That was April 25-28 of 1901. That is 1901.
That was even before blogging and texting.

Tonight the O’s trail 2-0 as they come to bat here in the fifth.
In the top of the fifth, Coco Crisp hit a drive to center off Brian Matusz that was over Adam Jones head but hit on the grass and went for a triple. It is not often you see a ball go over an outfielder’s head but still land on the grass and not the warning track. Later in the frame, Miguel Tejada made an error.
Maybe the smaller crowd has the O’s intensity down, but that should not matter.
Update: Julio Lugo just got hit by a pitch in the upper back and glared out at pitcher Vin Mazzaro and said something to him. As Lugo looked like he might head for the mound, catcher Kurt Suzuki jumped in front of him and several O’s players started out of their dugout, but that was about the extent of it.
Suzuki would up walking almost the entire length of the base line as Lugo went to first.
Another update: The O’s scored once in the last of the fifth on a Cesar Izturis RBI double, but also left two men on for the second innning in a row. They are 1-6 tonight so far batting with runners in scoring position after hitting .435 in those situations the past four games.
