The Orioles decided to keep Felix Pie on his injury rehab assignment and recall third baseman Josh Bell from Triple-A Norfolk.
Bell replaces Luke Scott, who goes on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Bell batted .266 with 24 doubles, 10 homers and 44 RBIs in 74 games with the Tides. He hit .274 this month, with nine doubles, four homers, 19 RBIs and a 500 slugging percentage. He homered twice and drove in six runs on Tuesday.
