Asher Wojciechowski won his last start in Detroit after allowing two runs and scattering eight hits in five innings.
Wojciechowski has made one career start against the Mariners, allowing four runs and eight hits in four innings on April 20, 2015 in Seattle.
Left-hander Justus Sheffield, a former first-round pick of the Indians, is making his sixth major league start tonight. In nine career appearances, including the first three in relief with the Yankees last season, Sheffield has posted a 5.83 ERA and 1.807 WHIP in 29 1/3 innings.
Sheffield held the Reds to one run over six innings on Sept. 10 and allowed five earned runs (six total) with eight strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings against the White Sox in his next outing.
Left-handed hitters are 5-for-27 (.185) against Sheffield this season. Right-handers are 28-for-82 (.341).
The Orioles are trying to win their first series since Aug. 19-21 against the Royals.
