Chandler Shepherd is making his second start and fourth appearance with the Orioles. He faced the Blue Jays on Tuesday and allowed three runs in four innings.
Randal Grichuk and Cavan Biggio homered off Shepherd. Grichuk is batting .341/.383/.886 (15-for-44) with six doubles and six home runs against the Orioles this season. Biggio is batting .292/.358/.667 (14-for-48) with a double, triple and five home runs.
Clay Buchholz is facing the Orioles again after starting Wednesday and allowing seven runs and 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Santander and Jonathan Villar homered off him.
Villar is in the lineup again tonight. He hasn’t missed a game in 2019.
Villar’s 38 stolen bases rank third in the majors behind the Mariners’ Mallex Smith (45) and the Royals’ Adalberto Mondesi (43). His steal Saturday night was the 200th of his career.
The Orioles have homered in 16 consecutive games, four short of the club record set from July 17-Aug. 9, 1998.
