Bergy had fanned just 14 batters all year in 58 innings and gets seven tonight. It was a very, very encouraging outing for him but it might end up with him taking his fifth loss.

Update: Jonathan Papelbon fanned Josh Bell for the final out as the Red Sox used that bloop hit in the eighth to beat the Orioles 3-2 tonight at Fenway Park in a game that took just two hours and seven minutes to play.

A tough way to start a ten-game road trip as the Orioles fall to 24-55. They are now 5-5 vs. Boston and 8-26 in games within the AL East.

Nick Markakis ended a 31-game homerless drought with a solo shot and Corey Patterson had an RBI single off Tim Wakefield, who got the win. Boston has won 11 of its last 15 games as J.D. Drew hit two solo homers.

With the win, the Red Sox improved to 500-413 all-time vs. the O’s since they moved to Baltimore in 1954.
