Alex Cobb is making his penultimate start of the season. He’s 1-4 with a 5.03 ERA and 1.398 WHIP in eight games.
Cobb’s ERA jumped from 4.33 to 5.03 after allowing five runs in four innings against the Yankees in his first appearance after going on the injured list and through COVID-19 testing due to a cold. He faced the Rays on July 31 and allowed two runs and four hits in four innings.
Cobb has never beaten his former team, going 0-3 with a 4.61 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in five starts over 27 1/3 innings.
The Rays clinched a playoff berth last night and they’re sending Tyler Glasnow to the mound.
Glasnow has faced the Orioles twice this summer and allowed four runs with 18 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings.
