Aaron Hill led off the second with his 13th home run.
Lewis led off the third with a single to right field, took second on a passed ball and scored with two outs on Adam Lind’s single to right. Bergesen also walked a batter and has thrown 55 pitches through the third.
Blue Jays left-hander Ricky Romero has retired the first nine batters on 31 pitches. The Orioles didn’t get a ball out of the infield until Cesar Izturis flied to center, swinging at the first pitch, to end the third inning.
Two foul pop ups to the catcher, three ground balls to second, two ground balls to short and one strikeout.
I’ll remind you again of the old saying about momentum in baseball being the next day’s starting pitcher. I guess that also applies after four-day All-Star breaks.
Update: Ty Wigginton ended Ricky Romero’s bid for a perfect game with a leadoff single in the fifth. And yes, the ball got out of the infield.
Wigginton scored with two outs on Julio Lugo’s infield hit.
