The Orioles announced their 2021 coaching staff this afternoon, which provided further confirmation that Tony Mansolino is handling third base duties and infield instruction.
Mansolino, 38, replaces José Flores, who isn’t returning after two seasons in the organization.

The Orioles announced their 2021 coaching staff this afternoon, which provided further confirmation that Tony Mansolino is handling third base duties and infield instruction.
Mansolino, 38, replaces José Flores, who isn’t returning after two seasons in the organization.
News of Mansolino’s hiring broke last month. He was the Indians’ infield instructor and filled in at third base after Mike Sarbaugh moved into the dugout to serve as acting manager Sandy Alomar’s bench coach.
Mansolino spent 11 seasons with the Indians as a minor league coach, instructor and manager. He guided Triple-A Columbus to the International League championship in 2019 after leading Single-A Lynchburg to an 87-52 record two years earlier.
The Pirates drafted Mansolino in the 26th round in 2005 from Vanderbilt University, but he never played above Double-A. His experience defensively covered all four infield positions and the outfield corners.
Mansolino’s father, Doug, is the Braves’ field coordinator.
The Orioles removed two members of their 2020 coaching staff and made one hire. Director of pitching Chris Holt is replacing Doug Brocail, adding pitching coach to his set of responsibilities and lengthening his title.
The rest of manager Brandon Hyde’s staff consists of assistant pitching coach Darren Holmes (whose title changed from bullpen coach), hitting coach Don Long, major league coordinator/catching instructor Tim Cossins, assistant hitting coach José Hernández, major league coach Fredi González and first base coach Anthony Sanders.
Sanders, hired prior to the 2020 season, also is the outfield instructor.
