Shortstop Freddy Galvis did some light running this morning, took early batting practice and stayed in the lineup for today’s game against the Red Sox at Camden Yards.

Galvis was removed from last night’s game to improve his chances of playing today. He’s still working through some soreness in his adductor/groin.

Galvis-Takes-Throw-2B-White-Sidebar.jpgLast night’s game produced Galvis’ fourth home run of the season and 99th of his career. He also extended his hitting streak to a season-high nine games and is batting .368 (10-for-28) during that stretch. He’s hit two home runs in his last four games after collecting two in the first 24.

Cedric Mullins’ 41 hits are a career high despite playing in 16 fewer games than 2020 (38 hits) and 13 fewer than 2018 (40).

Trey Mancini has notched an RBI in four straight games for the sixth time in his career and first since Sept.16-19, 2019. He’s the designated hitter today.

DJ Stewart is the cleanup hitter and right fielder. Ryan Mountcastle is batting fifth and playing first base. Rio Ruiz is the third baseman and Pat Valaika is starting at second after pitching a scoreless and hitless ninth inning last night.

Dean Kremer is coming off his best start of the season, when he held Seattle to one run and two hits in six innings. He closed 2020 with a start against the Red Sox in Boston and allowed seven runs and seven hits with three walks in 2 2/3 innings.

Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta is 4-0 with a 3.23 ERA in six starts over 30 2/3 innings. He’s averaging 5.6 walks per nine innings.

Pivetta faced the Orioles on April 11 at Camden Yards and allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings. Maikel Franco hit a three-run homer.

Franco is in a 3-for-38 slump and out of today’s lineup.

The Orioles are 6-21 against the Red Sox at Camden Yards since the beginning of the 2018 season. They’ve allowed at least seven runs in five of their 16 home games this year
