Jorge López is 2-8 with a 5.95 ERA and 1.492 WHIP in 14 starts. He hasn’t worked more than five innings in any of his three starts this month.
López has one career start against the Astros, when he allowed six runs and six hits in 2 1/3 innings on May 8, 2019. He walked three batters and surrendered home runs to Carlos Correa, Michael Brantley and George Springer.
The Orioles have yielded 10 runs or more in three of the last five games. They’ve lost 11 of the last 12.
Zack Greinke is 7-2 with a 3.74 ERA and 1.139 WHIP in 15 starts. In his last two outings, he’s allowed seven runs and 11 hits in 8 2/3 innings. The decline occurred after his complete-game victory against the Blue Jays.
He threw 104 and 102 pitches in back-to-back starts before his last two appearances.
Greinke has made seven career starts and nine appearances against the Orioles and posted a 5.32 ERA and 1.250 WHIP in 44 innings. Freddy Galvis is 5-for-21 and Maikel Franco is 2-for-16.
Believe it or not, Greinke hasn’t faced the Orioles since 2010 while pitching for the Royals.
Major League Baseball announced that Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah has received a five-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing at Franco in the bottom of the fourth inning of Saturday’s game at Camden Yards. The benches and bullpens emptied, but no punches were thrown.
Manoah is appealing the suspension.
Manager Charlie Montoyo has been suspended for one game and is serving it tonight.
