The Orioles ended a six-game losing streak and 20-game road losing streak last night with a 6-5, 10-inning win. They haven’t won back-to-back games on the road since April 30-May 1 in Oakland.
Pat Valaika’s bases-loaded walk in the 10th was the team’s first go-ahead, bases-loaded, extra-inning free pass since Seth Smith’s walk-off in the 11th on April 26, 2017 in versus the Rays. It was the first go-ahead, bases-loaded, extra-inning walk on the road since Chris Hoiles in the 11th on July 31, 1997 in Oakland. It’s the fifth in club history.
The Orioles are 2-40 when trailing after the seventh.
Left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu is 6-4 with a 3.25 ERA and 1.084 WHIP in 14 starts. He’s averaging 1.8 walks per nine innings.
