If fans were looking for someone to show fire and passion on this team, they just saw it.
Ty Wigginton was ejected by first base umpire Gary Darling for arguing a play in the top of the seventh. J.J. Hardy broke for second on a steal then turned around and retreated to first. When Wigginton took the throw and applied the tag on Hardy he was expecting an out call that didn’t come.

He immediately charged toward Darling, but did not make contact with him as Darling put up his hand to throw him out. Juan Samuel came out to restrain Wigginton, who clearly made his feelings known.
Just a moment ago, after an RBI single by Drew Butera, Samuel was ejected by home plate ump Bill Hohn. Now we are told Rick Kranitz was also ejected by Hohn.
The O’s dugout is becoming a lonely place right now.
But you know what, this was probably about more than one game or a few calls tonight. Some season-long frustration just bubbled over here in the seventh.
The crowd gave Wigginton and Samuel long and loud ovations. Samuel threw his hat in an Earl Weaver-like performance.
They are upset and frustrated tonight and perhaps at more than just this game.
