Orioles manager Hyde is holding off until after today’s game to reveal Monday’s starter, saying it’s going to require a corresponding move because the pitcher is being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.

This eliminates left-hander Alexander Wells, who’s already with the team.

“I’m just going to wait on it,” he said.

Matt Harvey’s turn falls on Monday, when the Orioles open a four-game series against the Royals at Camden Yards. A fifth starter isn’t needed until Tuesday, but the order can be rearranged.

Hyde is checking on Harvey and John Means while coming up with an alignment.

“Kind of waiting to see Matt and Meansie play catch today, tomorrow, kind of see how they feel, if we need to push them back or not,” Hyde said. “So right now we’re TBA across the board with the Royals.”

So are the Royals, whose game notes also designate the starters as TBA.

Baumann is on a serious roll, allowing four runs in five August starts covering 22 innings, though he also walked 13 batters. Most recently, he held Charlotte to one run with no walks and seven strikeouts in six innings to lower his Tides ERA to 2.00 in six starts.

MLBPipeline.com ranks Baumann as the organization’s No. 10 prospect and Baseball America has him ninth.

He’d probably be in the majors now or have made his debut this summer if not for the recurrence of the discomfort in his forearm/elbow.

The Orioles have used 55 players, with 14 making their debuts. The team records are 58 and 15, respectively.

Lowther made five appearances (one start) with the Orioles, the last on July 7, and allowed 10 runs and 13 hits in 8 1/3 innings. He walked four batters and struck out 11.

Back with Norfolk after a stint on the injured list with strained shoulder, Lowther has gone 0-5 with a 6.53 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in eight starts and 30 1/3 innings. His last appearance was Wednesday, when he allowed three runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings with one walk and four strikeouts.

Lowther has moved down to 27th in organizational rankings per Baseball America. He’s 22nd on MLBPipeline.com.

Meanwhile, Ryan Mountcastle isn’t just getting a rest day this afternoon.

“His foot’s just a little tender from fouling the ball off his right foot,” Hyde said, “so I’m just giving him a break today and he’ll be available off the bench.”

Yesterday’s victory was the 500th for the Orioles against the Yankees.
