The Orioles tonight announced that they have signed infielder Rougned Odor (ROOG-nehd oh-DOER) to a one-year contract for the 2022 season.
Odor, 27, appeared in 102 games for the New York Yankees last season, making 60 starts at second base and 29 at third base. He hit .202/.286/.379 (65-for-322) with 15 home runs, 12 doubles, 42 runs scored, and 39 RBI. He hit .202/.286/.379 (65-for-322) with 15 home runs, 12 doubles, 42 runs scored, and 39 RBI. His eight outs above average ranked second among American League second basemen and tied for fourth in the majors, according to Statcast. His 15 home runs were the fourth-most on New York-AL, and the Yankees went 56-33 (.629) in games he started.
The Maracaibo, Venezuela native was originally signed by the Texas Rangers on January 3, 2011, as an International free agent. He made his Major League debut on May 8, 2014, at 20 years old. Since the 2014 season, he ranks third in MLB in games played as a second baseman (908), trailing only DJ LeMahieu (915) and José Altuve (1049). He was an American League Gold Glove finalist at second base during the 2018 season. His 157 home runs as a second baseman since 2014 are the most amongst active players. He has played in 24 career games at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, slashing .294/.368/.447 (25-for-85). Odor is a career .234/.289/.433 (814-for-3,480) hitter with 161 home runs.
