ATLANTA – Ramón Urías is making his first major league start at first base tonight, as the Orioles try for their eighth series win in a row.
Ryan Mountcastle is the designated hitter.
Austin Hays is out of the lineup again with a deep cut on his right middle finger. Kyle Stowers gets the start in left field.
Gunnar Henderson is at third base. Adam Frazier is the second baseman.
Anthony Santander, who’s in right field, has hit three home runs in the last two games, including last night’s first career grand slam.
Kyle Bradish has a 6.14 ERA and 1.841 WHIP in four starts. He’s allowed 10 runs and 14 hits with five walks in seven innings in his last two outings.
The Orioles went 11 games in a row without a quality start until Dean Kremer held the Braves to one run last night in six innings.
The Orioles are 12 games above .500 for the first time since May 9, 2017. They haven’t been more than 12 over .500 since the end of the 2016 season.
Right-hander Spencer Strider, runner-up for National League Rookie of the Year in 2022, is 4-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 0.943 WHIP in six starts. He’s allowed 10 runs and 19 hits with 14 walks and 57 strikeouts in 35 innings. He’s surrendered only two home runs.
Strider leads the majors with 14.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
Sean Murphy’s nine home runs lead all catchers. He didn’t hit his ninth last year until the 70th game on July 1.
