Since June 1, Adams is batting .335 with 26 doubles over 67 games.

The Orioles’ second-round pick in 2006, he is among the league leaders in several categories in the Eastern League. His .302 average is tied for 5th, while he is 2nd with 136 hits and 52 extra-base hits and he leads the league with 40 doubles.

Bowie’s Joel Guzman continues to lead the league with 27 homers.

Xavier Avery, the 20-year-old center fielder the O’s just moved to Bowie from Frederick, had his best Baysox game last night. He went 2 for 5 with two doubles and drove in all four runs in the Baysox 4-2 win at Trenton. Avery, who now has a four-game batting streak, is 6 for 26 with two steals in six Baysox games.

Bowie is pushing for a playoff berth. The Baysox are in second place in the Western Division, two games ahead of Harrisburg for a playoff spot.

L.J. Hoes homered and drove in three runs in Frederick’s win over Wilmington last night. Hoes is now batting .287 with a 12-game hitting streak. He’s batting .302 with 12 RBI in 16 August games.

Frederick will be in the Carolina League playoffs after winning their division’s first half title. The Keys Kyle Hudson has 36 stolen bases to lead the league.

O’s third-round draft pick, UCLA pitcher Dan Klein, as we reported earlier, is with Aberdeen and is now on the active roster with the IronBirds. Matt Bywater is also expected to join Aberdeen.

In the New York-Penn League All-Star game last night, the IronBirds Adam Gaylord went 2 for 2 with a run scored. Trent Mummey was 0-1 and Kipp Schutz 0-2. Tim Adleman and Justin Moore each pitched a shutout inning for the AL team, which won 4-3.

The IronBirds are home tonight vs. Hudson Valley at Ripken Stadium.
