Colby Lewis, who began with game with a batting average against of just .163 with runners in scoring position, best in the AL and second best in the Majors, got out of a bases-loaded jam in the third with one out. He struck out Nick Markakis and Ty Wigginton back-to-back in an impressive display of pitching.
Corey Patterson made a base-running mistake in the last of the fifth and was doubled off first base on a short fly ball out to center field off the bat of Cesar Izturis.
Both these teams have struggled recently with the Orioles losing five of seven. Texas has dropped three in a row, seven of ten and is 7-10 since July 30th.
