It was the final regular season home game for Bowie tonight, but maybe not the final time they will be at this stadium this year.
In front of a small, but enthusiastic crowd of 1,694, the Baysox beat Altoona 7-2 tonight and, coupled with Harrisburg’s 3-2 loss to New Hampshire, they moved into second place in the Eastern League’s Western Division.

Rick Zagone gave Bowie a strong start to gain his fifth win. He allowed just two runs on seven hits over six innings. He got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth. Zagone had pitched to an ERA of 7.36 over his previous three starts.
Baysox slugger Joel Guzman got the offense started with a first-inning, three-run homer, his 33rd, which ties Walter Young’s single-season club record, set in 2004. Carlos Rojas added a key two-run for the Baysox and they got an RBI double from Xavier Avery and solo homer from Ryan Adams.
Bowie improves to 74-64 and is hoping to see first-place Altoona again next week, when the first round of the playoffs start on Wednesday.
