Dean Kremer is making good progress in his recovery from a right triceps strain.

The Orioles put Kremer on the 15-day injured list retroactive to May 21. He’s rehabbing with the club.

“He’s doing well,” said manager Brandon Hyde. “It’s getting a little bit better every day. The soreness has gone down. Should be expecting to play catch here soon.

“So far so good with him.”

Hyde didn’t have any updates on John Means (left forearm strain) or Tyler Wells (right elbow inflammation). Means is receiving a second opinion after flying back to Baltimore. Wells is in Sarasota rehabbing, with no news beyond how he was cleared to play catch last week.

“With all those guys, I’ll announce it to you guys when I have any sort of information regarding Wells or Meansie,” Hyde said, “but there’s nothing new to report with those guys right now.”

Ryan Mountcastle is fine but out of the lineup after the Orioles played three consecutive day games. That’s a hot bat to keep in the rack.

Mountcastle is riding a six-game hitting streak and has gone 11-for-25 with four doubles in that stretch. He said that he’s ready to come off the bench if needed.

Gunnar Henderson has drawn 13 walks in his last 12 games and 19 this month compared to eight in March/April. And each time, he chucks the bat and his elbow guard toward the dugout with tremendous force.

Exit velocities aren’t available but he’s got to lead the league.

“I have noticed it, yeah,” Hyde said. “He’s almost hit me a couple times. Maybe he’s mad at me. It’s an aggressive walk.

“I haven’t asked him if it’s irritation or if it’s … I don’t know. I’m not sure what it is. Listen, anytime you can get on base, he makes stuff happen. But it’s definitely an unusual bat toss after a walk. I had to move my feet a couple days ago on one. I think it might have stuck to his batting glove when he tossed it.”

Hyde thinks he might need to get in an “athletic stance” on ball four.

“Be ready right away,” he said.

Orioles starters have worked 17 consecutive scoreless innings dating back to Friday.

Pitcher Brandon Young was promoted from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk.

Young recorded a 4.09 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in seven games (six starts), with 36 strikeouts and only four walks in 22 innings.
