Tonight’s attendance: 18,943.
Buck Showalter has won more games as Orioles manager this year (18) than Dave Trembley and Juan Samuel.
They don’t hand out trophies for that accomplishment, but it’s worth noting.
Jeremy Guthrie set a season high with seven strikeouts tonight. He matched his season high with 116 pitches. He’s gone at least six innings in 10 straight outings, with eight quality starts during that span.
Is this the strongest Guthrie has felt this late in a season?

“I don’t even know how to compare it,” he said. “I feel good right now and that’s all that’s mattered to me.”
And please don’t ask him about last season. He’s put it far behind him.
“There’s no need to rehash it,” he said. “It’s a good stretch for me right now. I’m going to continue to work on it. We have another month of the season to go. I want to look back at the end of the season as we all do on this team and say we all made good strides in the right direction and are looking forward to 2011.”
The offense offered rare support tonight with eight runs and 15 hits.
“This is a very tough division and it’s not easy to be here in the East,” said Luke Scott, who’s batting .350 at Camden Yards this season.
“There’s no pushovers. There’s no fight to the bat rack when the fourth and fifth starter comes up in this division because the four and five starters in this division are ones and twos a lot of times in other divisions in baseball. It’s just not easy at-bats. There are not easy at-bats here.”
