Bergesen was 0-2 with a 10.38 ERA in two career starts against the Yankees, both in the Bronx, having allowed 10 earned runs in 8 2/3 innings. But he allowed three runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts this season and worked
at least seven innings in five of those seven. He’s got a lot of movement on his ball – a few pitches have tailed so far to the right, they almost hit the foul pole – and he’s got the Yankees’ offense in a holding pattern.
