Tough love.
Ken Dixon started the game and allowed five runs and five hits in 1 2/3 innings. Eric Bell replaced him and gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Mike Griffin, now the pitching coach at Triple-A Norfolk, allowed two runs in two innings.
Mike Kinnunen, and I’ll admit that I don’t remember him at all, allowed six runs and six hits in 1 2/3 innings. Tony Arnold surrendered three runs and five hits in two-thirds of an inning.
Jack O’Connor finally restored order, if such a thing exists in an 18-3 game, by getting the last two outs.
Center fielder Mike Hart homered for the Orioles.
Why take my word for it? Here’s the box score if you want to take a trip down memory lane. Try not to trip over anything.
