Robert Andino has homered again, connecting off CC Sabathia in the bottom of the fifth inning and reducing the Yankees’ lead to 6-3. He also extended his hitting streak to five games.

He’s only appeared in six with the Orioles.

Don’t even pretend that you envisioned an Andino home run in September while this season played out. Now you’ve got two of them.

Heck, I didn’t think we’d see Andino all year, but Julio Lugo’s sinus infection caused the Orioles to seek a middle infielder. They purchased his contract after taking him off the 40-man roster at the end of spring training.

Andino is out of options, of course, so he’d have to make the team out of spring training. Manager Buck Showalter likes him. He mentioned Andino’s athleticism.

He left out the part about the power bat.

Jeremy Guthrie is done tonight. He allowed six runs and seven hits in five innings, walked two and struck out five. He also hit Derek Jeter to open the game. Guthrie threw 108 pitches, 68 for strikes.

Instant update: By my count, Nolan Reimold has failed to field three balls cleanly in left field. It’s like trying to pick up a greased pig.

He tracked down Nick Swisher’s double in the corner with two outs in the sixth inning and bobbled the ball twice as Jeter rounded the bases.
