President of baseball operations Andy MacPhail confirmed that the Orioles re-signed Koji Uehara to a one-year deal with a vesting option. Uehara will earn a base salary of $3 million, and incentives can increase the total to $5 million.
The vesting option for 2012 is based on games finished and appearances.

Uehara earned $5 million this season and would have gotten a raise in arbitration. The Orioles allowed him to become a free agent, and their gamble paid off.
Also, the J.J. Hardy deal is just about completed. Just a few minor details to finish.
MacPhail didn’t totally close the door on re-signing Cesar Izturis despite Brendan Harris’ inclusion in the trade, and he’ll engage in more talks.
Update: The Oriole sent out a press release at noon announcing the trade. J.J. Hardy, Brendan Harris and cash to the Orioles for Jim Hoey and Brett Jacobson.
