Also, an Orioles official confirmed that pitcher Alfredo Simon has obtained his visa and will enter the U.S. shortly. The Sun posted an update earlier today.
Simon was granted bail in the Dominican Republic after being incarcerated since Jan. 3. He’ll eventually start a throwing program in Sarasota while remaining on the Orioles’ restricted list.
Brian Matusz will fly back to Baltimore after tomorrow’s game and be examined by team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens. Matusz is going on the disabled list with a strained intercostal muscle.
Matusz also might visit the team dermatologist in Philadelphia to have his left middle finger checked. Just a routine follow-up after having a wart removed.
