I’m pretty sure the hits will be coming soon.

But for now, Markakis is slumping. He had six hits in the season’s first four games and has had six hits in the 12 games since.

He has just one hit over his last 20 at-bats as his average has dropped from .268 to its current .197. He is batting just .128 over the last 12 games.

Markakis, who hit .284 last April, has two homers and six RBIs. At this point last year, he was hitting .259 without a homer and with just two RBIs.

I’m pretty sure fans can count on Markakis breaking out of this pretty soon.

In other O’s hitting notes, Robert Andino began the season going 0-for-10, but has seven hits over his last nine at-bats after a three-hit game Tuesday.

Adam Jones is now 6-for-19 during a five-game batting streak and is 3-for-7 in this series.

Derrek Lee, who had two singles last night, has gone seven games without an extra-base hit and 11 games without an RBI.

Brian Roberts is batting .375 (12-for-32) during a seven-game hitting streak. Roberts, who is 3-for-9 in the Twins series, has four multi-hit contests during his hit streak. As pointed out in a previous post, he already has five multi-RBI games this season after posting just two of those in 59 games in all of 2010.

Matt Wieters, after going through a 2-for-23 slump, is now 4-for-10 during a three-game batting streak. Wieters had four RBIs all year until picking up five RBIs the last two nights.

Finally, the O’s put up an impressive 6-for-11 performance last night with runners in scoring position. They had just five such hits in the previous four games, going 5-for-28 with RISP until breaking out last night in the 11-0 win.
