His only clean inning was the first, but he kept batting. Unfortunately for the Orioles, Scott Baker has suffocated the Orioles’ offense with seven shutout innings and only four hits allowed. He’s struck out nine batters.

Speaking of being stingy, Guthrie has surrendered two runs or fewer in three of his four starts this season and lowered his ERA tonight to 3.12. His only bad outing came Saturday night in Cleveland, when the Indians roughed him up for six runs and 10 hits over five innings.

Guthrie was still building up his stamina after being hospitalized with a form of pneumonia.
