The Orioles are encouraged by the preliminary reports on Single-A Delmarva shortstop Manny Machado’s left knee.
The club will know more after receiving the results of Machado’s MRI, but director of player development John Stockstill is hopeful that it’s a “few days” thing.
Machado will undergo an MRI in Asheville, N.C. this afternoon, and team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens will view the results later tonight and lay out a diagnosis.

Machado was walking around fairly easily last night after being carried off the field in the top of the first inning. The left knee swelled overnight, which delayed the MRI.
The Orioles obviously are hoping for the best. They should know more around 7 p.m.
Machado, the third-overall pick in last year’s draft, was tagged out after collapsing between second and third base.
