*The Orioles are looking tonight to end this homestand with a three-game sweep after it started with Tampa sweeping them three straight. The last time the O’s were swept in three or more games to start a homestand and then swept the next opponent on the stand was from June 26-July 2, 1997. They were swept by Toronto, but then swept the Phillies.
*M’s starter Jason Vargas is 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in four career starts against Baltimore. *The Orioles last completed a three-game home sweep of Seattle from May 24-26, 2005. The Orioles are 4-7 under Buck Showalter in games where they can complete a sweep.
*The Orioles are 2-9 this year with nine losses in a row in series finale games.
*Brian Roberts’ first-inning single snapped his 0-for-26 stretch. Adam Jones had a bunt single in the second inning and now has eight hits in 11 at bats in this series and is 18 for his last 40 at bat. He now has 16 RBIs over his last 21 games.
*The Orioles batted .361 as a team (30-for-83) and were 10-for-28 with runners in scoring position in the first two games of this series.
*Vlad Guerrero has now gone nine games without an RBI and Mark Reynolds does not have an RBI over his last eight games.
*With his second-inning single, Matt Wieters is now 6-for-15 during a four-game batting streak. He is 12-for-21 on the year when batting with runners in scoring position.
*Derrek Lee is just 3-for-26 over his last seven games, but has 8 RBIs over his past 13 games.
