Simon, 28, went 0-1 with a 9.95 ERA (6.1IP, 7ER) in two starts for the Orioles. He left his second start on April 14 at Texas with discomfort in his right elbow. Simon was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 15 (transferred to the 60-day DL on July 29) with right elbow discomfort and underwent successful “Tommy John” ligament replacement surgery on May 5, performed by Dr. James Andrews. He was signed by the Orioles as a minor league free agent on August 29, 2008.
McCrory, 27, pitched to a 17.18 ERA (7.1IP, 14ER) in two stints with the Orioles in 2009. He was shut down with a torn labrum in his right shoulder after his final appearance on September 21. McCrory, the Orioles’ fourth round selection in the 2003 First Year Player Draft, had surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder on October 2, performed by Dr. Andrew Cosgarea. He went 0-3 with a 3.88 ERA (62.2IP, 27ER) in 50 games for Triple-A Norfolk.
Hill, 29, went 3-3 with a 7.80 ERA (57.2IP, 50ER) in 14 games (13 starts) for the Orioles. He had two stints on the disabled list, March 29-May 16 (strained left elbow) and July 29 through the end of the season (left shoulder inflammation). Hill was placed on the 60-day disabled list on September 1 and had surgery on a torn labrum in his left shoulder on August 7, performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum. He was acquired by the Orioles on February 2 from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
