ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Orioles have scored in just one of their last 23 innings – two runs total – dating back to the sixth inning of Wednesday’s game against Seattle. They’re batting .215 (17-for-79) with one extra-base hit and only four batters advancing beyond second base during that span.
The pitchers, meanwhile, have posted a 1.95 ERA in those 23 innings.
The rotation has recorded four straight quality starts, positing a 1.86 ERA.

According to Elias, Nick Markakis’ .479 career average in extra innings is the highest among active players with at least 40 at-bats. J.J. Hardy ranks second with a .445 career average.
Lee’s .071 (2-28) average with runners in scoring position is the lowest among AL hitters with 25 or more at-bats. Detroit’s Magglio Ordonez is 2-for-26.
Meanwhile, Adam Jones (11-for-25, two doubles, a triple, two homers and 18 RBIs) and Matt Wieters (12-for-22, three doubles, three homers and 19 RBsI) are batting a combined .489 (23-for-47) with five doubles, a triple, five homers and 37 RBIs with runners in scoring position.
Wade Davis is 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA in seven career starts against the Orioles. He lost, 5-1, on April 3 after giving up four runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. He won on May 8 after giving up three runs and four hits, with five walks, in five innings.
Hardy is 4-for-8 with three doubles and three RBIs against Davis. Wieters is 6-for-15 with a double and three RBIs. Cesar Izturis is 4-for-10 with a double.
Markakis is 3-for-22 with a triple. Roberts is 4-for-18 with a double.
