The O’s took a 2-0 lead in a messy top of the first for Daisuke Matsuzaka on an RBI double by Derrek Lee off the monster and Vlad Guerrero’s RBI groundout.
Lee left the game in the third inning with a left oblique strain.
The Orioles added to the lead on another clutch hit by Matt Wieters when he delivered an RBI single in the third. Wieters is now 12-for-28 during a seven-game batting streak.
With a win the Orioles would improve to 3-1 against Boston on the year and get back to the .500 mark at 20-20. They were last at .500 on May 1st at 13-13.
Updated: The Orioles have added to their lead in the fifth on RBIs by Mark Reynolds and J.J. Hardy to make it 5-0.
