It’s the latest embarrassment for the Orioles today.
The Rays stole four bases off Brian Matusz in the first inning. Matusz recorded only four outs in the quickest non-injury exit of his career. Mark Reynolds committed two errors at third base. Jones tried to double off a runner and almost sailed his throw into the first row of seats behind first base.
It hasn’t been a crisp performance today.
The Orioles keep trying to fight back. Luke Scott just hit his eighth home run leading off the bottom of the eighth inning. Estimated distance: 438 feet.
The Orioles’ three home runs today ties their season high set on June 7 against Oakland.
Update: Felix Pie was thrown out trying to steal second base with one out in the eighth and the Orioles down by three runs.
And so it goes.
