The Orioles don’t ever want to lose any player to injury, but now that Mark Reynolds is hitting homers, they’d really like to keep his bat in the lineup.
Reynolds is confident he can play Tuesday after leaving today’s game in the eighth with a left forearm contusion. He took a shot off the bat of Sean Rodriguez off that arm in the fifth inning and had it taped after the game.
Reynolds said X-rays on his arm were negative.

Reynolds is confident he can play Tuesday after leaving today’s game in the eighth with a left forearm contusion. He took a shot off the bat of Sean Rodriguez off that arm in the fifth inning and had it taped after the game.
Reynolds said X-rays on his arm were negative.
“I think the day (off tomorrow) will do some good,” he said. “I’m going to try and get the swelling out of it. Do some treatment tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be ready Tuesday.
“When it first happened, it wasn’t too bad. It was hurting a bit but as the game went on, kind of sitting around, it started swelling up a lot. Couldn’t really grip the bat very well and turn my wrist over. I wasn’t going to hurt the team by going out there and trying to hit when I couldn’t.”
It was a tough day for him in the field with two errors, one in the first and one in the seventh.
“It sucks,” Reynolds said. “The first error I was trying to be aggressive and make the play at home. The second one, I couldn’t sit back because B.J (Upton) has some speed. I got an in-between hop. Two rough hops that I kind of forced myself to get them.”
Reynolds went 0-for-2 with a walk at bat today. He has five homers over his last eight games and 10 since May 1. His OPS for June was 1.244 before today’s game.
But in the field, this was his first two-error game since last August 12 and he now has 14 errors on the year.
“I’m not worried about anything, but I’ve got to be consistent over there playing defense. The two guys that got on base scored. I’m going to keep working, try to be more consistent,” he said.
