Jakubauskas allowed seven hits, walked four, struck out two, threw a wild pitch and hit a batter. He threw 101 pitches, 57 for strikes.

One run probably should have been unearned, since it scored on Robert Andino’s throwing error.

Catcher Matt Wieters winced earlier in the game while swinging at a pitch and was rubbing his right shoulder in the dugout. Head athletic trainer Richie Bancells checked him.

Wieters seems to be OK, but he also was hit in the mask by Rajai Davis’ bat in the sixth inning. It’s been a rough night.

Also, manager Buck Showalter told reporters in Toronto that second baseman Brian Roberts has increased his workout routine, but he’s still not cleared for baseball activities. Roberts will be reexamined by concussion specialist Michael Collins in Pittsburgh before he gets the go-ahead to start swinging a bat and taking ground balls.

Update: The Orioles have scored twice in the seventh inning to reduce Toronto’s lead to 4-3. J.J. Hardy’s second double of the night produced his 20th RBI and drew the Orioles within a run.

Luke Scott is a bunting machine tonight. He could win a batting title with this technique.

Update II: Wieters’ shoulder is fine. He just hit a two-run homer into the second deck to tie the game, 5-5, in the eighth inning.

Down on the farm, Joe Mahoney moved up to Double-A Bowie today and hit his second home run with the Baysox.

Brandon Waring and Robbie Widlansky also have homered to account for Bowie’s three runs against Reading.

Steve Johnson has allowed two runs and five hits in six innings, with two walks and six strikeouts.

Triple-A Norfolk’s Mitch Atkins has held Durham to one run and two hits in six innings, with no walks and six strikeouts. But he’s losing, 1-0.

Jeff Niemann started for the Bulls and threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and walking three.

Tides left-hander Mark Hendrickson went on the seven-day disabled list.
