For the first time in three outings, Triple-A Norfolk’s Chris Tillman didn’t have a start cut short by the weather.
Unfortunately, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre forced his early exit this afternoon.
Tillman allowed five earned runs (six total) and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out four. His ERA rose to 4.56.
Tillman threw 97 pitches, 62 for strikes.
Tillman’s last start ended after a 42-minute rain delay. He allowed one unearned run over 3 2/3 innings.

Jake Fox, who’s catching today, hit his third home run for Norfolk. Tillman committed his first error on an errant pickoff throw, and second baseman Ryan Adams committed his fifth with a bad throw.
Also, shortstop Manny Machado and infielder Jonathan Schoop have been chosen to play in the Futures Game next month in Phoenix that’s part of the All-Star Game festivities.
Machado is making his debut tonight at Single-A Frederick. Schoop has played 13 games with the Keys after being promoted from Single-A Delmarva.
The Futures Game will take place July 10 and will air on ESPN2 beginning at 6 p.m.
