In the last six games, all at home, O’s starters pitched to an ERA of 9.21 and they didn’t have one starter go longer than 5 2/3 innings.

The Orioles have just one quality start over the last 13 games and a starting pitcher ERA in that time of 6.58.

The Orioles have just one quality start over the last 13 games and a starting pitcher ERA in that time of 6.58.

But you can go back through the entire 25 games in June and the Orioles had a starter go seven innings or more just twice. In only seven of those 25 games, did the O’s starter go even six innings and the Orioles had just six quality starts in June.

The ERA of the starters for the month was 5.54 as the starters’ ERA on the year rose from 4.14 at the beginning of June to 4.56 now at the end of the month.

How Orioles’ starters fared in June:

Arrieta: 3-1, 3.28 in four starts.
Britton: 1-3, 4.50 in five starts.
Jakubauskas: 2-1, 4.94 in five starts.
Guthrie: 1-2, 5.79 in five starts.
Matusz: 1-4, 8.77 in six starts.

That is not a pretty picture and maybe July will bring a better fate for the rotation. While a lot of focus has been placed on the lack of clutch hits the team has been producing lately, the starting pitching is springing quite a few leaks lately as well.

By the way, three relievers had the best June ERAs on the Orioles roster, with Jim Johnson at 1.00, Koji Uehara at 1.35 and Mike Gonzalez at 1.64.
