According to Elias, Zach Britton is only the third Orioles starting pitcher to allow at least eight runs while not making it out of the first inning since the team moved to Baltimore in 1954. The other two were Hayden Penn on Sept. 3, 2006 against Oakland (eight runs in two-thirds of an inning) and Victor Zambrano on Sept. 26, 2007 against Toronto (eight runs in two-thirds of an inning).

In the last 24 games since June 12, Orioles starters have completed seven innings just once and have a 7.42 ERA in 115 1/3 innings. In the last 14 games, the starters are 2-10 with a 9.09 ERA in 64 1/3 innings, with only Jeremy Guthrie and Mitch Atkins completing as many as six innings.

Koji Uehara has registered a 1.32 ERA in his last 25 games since May 8, lowering his ERA from 3.86 to 2.08. He ranks second among American League relievers with a 6.38 strikeout-to-walk ratio and sixth among AL relievers in strikeouts per nine innings (11.77).

The Orioles lead the majors with 48 home runs since June 1. Their 35 homers in 25 June games tied Detroit for the most in the majors.

The Orioles’ 13 homers in July are the third-most in baseball. For the year, they rank fifth in the AL and eighth in the majors with 96.
