Luke Scott will report to Double-A Bowie tomorrow if his shoulder continues to improve. He’ll accompany the Baysox to Harrisburg on Monday and could be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Scott received a cortisone injection in his right shoulder yesterday and took some swings off a tee and against a pitching machine earlier today.

Brad Bergesen is scheduled to start Monday night’s game against the Red Sox.

Alfredo Simon will be placed on the restricted list after tonight’s start, so the Orioles can bring up a player to take his spot on the roster. That’s one way to improve the bench.

Zach Britton threw 38 pitches in three innings last night at Bowie, allowing a solo home run to Wes Hodges on a 3-2 changeup. He’s scheduled to go four innings on Wednesday and could either make one more start for the Baysox or be recalled by the Orioles.

“He controls that as much as we do,” manager Buck Showalter said.

If Britton remains with Bowie, the Orioles are expected to recall him by July 30 at the latest.

Cesar Izturis had another good day in Sarasota and remains a possibility to be activated from the disabled list on July 23.

Looking past the veteran infielder’s statistics, Showalter said, “He’s been a solid voice. Sometimes we miss that.”
