Triple-A Norfolk outfielder Matt Angle, a seventh-round draft pick out of Ohio State in 2007, has left the Tides and is heading to Camden Yards.
Angle, 25, could be officially recalled as a roster replacement for Vladimir Guerrero, who is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured bone in his right hand.

Guerrero was in manager Buck Showalter’s office with president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail shortly before 6 p.m.
The Orioles also will have an opening on their roster once tonight’s starter, Alfredo Simon, is placed on the restricted list. Simon will fly back to the Dominican Republic tomorrow and attend a hearing the following day.
Angle, who mostly has played center field, is batting .266 with seven doubles, two triples, four homers, 29 RBIs and 20 stolen bases for the Tides. He’s never played in the majors.
Angle has played two minor league games in left field, including one this season, and one in right. He would be regarded as a defensive upgrade in left.
Update: Left-hander Troy Patton is also headed to Baltimore from the Tides. Patton is 4-1 this season at Norfolk with a 1.83 ERA in 17 games. He’s allowed nine earned runs – no home runs – walked 12 and struck out 30 in 44 1/3 innings.
Patton has surrendered one run in his last seven appearances and 18 2/3 innings.
