Orioles place Guerrero on DL; recall Angle, Patton

The Orioles announced today they have placed designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 11, with a fractured right wrist. The club has also recalled outfielder Matt Angle and LHP Troy Patton from Triple-A Norfolk.
Angle, 25, hit .266 with four home runs, 29 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 81 games for the Tides. He batted .380 in his last 16 games with Norfolk, hitting safely in 14 of those contests. Angle, 25, hit .266 with four home runs, 29 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 81 games for the Tides. He batted .380 in his last 16 games with Norfolk, hitting safely in 14 of those contests. The Orioles’ 7th-round selection in the 2007 First Year Player Draft out of Ohio State University, Angle will wear No. 38 and make his major league debut.
Patton, 25, has gone 4-1 with a 1.83 ERA in 17 games for Norfolk. He made one appearance for the Orioles in May, allowing two earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched against the New York Yankees. He is 0-2 with a 4.02 ERA in five career major league appearances with the Houston Astros and Orioles.
Guerrero, 36, has batted .279 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs in 83 games for the Orioles.
