The Orioles tonight announced that they have acquired RHP Tommy Hunter and INF Chris Davis from the Texas Rangers in exchange for RHP Koji Uehara.
Hunter, 25, is 23-13 with a 4.36 ERA (266.1IP, 129ER) and 151 strikeouts in 53 career games (44 starts) over parts of four seasons with Texas, including 13-4 with a 3.73 ERA (128.0IP, 53ER) and 68 strikeouts in 23 games (22 starts) in 2010. A Rangers’ first round draft pick (54th overall selection) in the 2007 First Year Player Draft, Hunter went 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA (15.1IP, 5ER) in eight relief appearances for the Rangers this season and 2-2 with a 5.06 ERA (26.2IP, 15ER) in eight games (five starts) for Triple-A Round Rock.
Davis, 25, has batted .248/.300/.454 with 49 doubles, 42 home runs and 124 RBI in 265 career major league games over parts of the last four seasons with the Rangers. A corner infielder, Davis batted .250/.299/.403 with three home runs and six RBI in 27 games with Texas and .368/.405/.824 with 24 home runs and 66 RBI in 48 games with Triple-A Round Rock this season. He was the Rangers’ 5th round pick in the 2006 First Year Player Draft.
Uehara, 36, pitched to a 1.72 ERA (47.0IP, 9ER) with 62 strikeouts in 43 games for the Orioles this season. In 98 career games for Baltimore over the past three seasons, he went 4-7 with a 3.03 ERA (157.2IP, 53ER) and 165 strikeouts.
