Righty Scott Copeland is also going from Delmarva to Frederick while the Shorebirds are activating pitcher Josh Dowdy off the disabled list and get right-hander Jake Cowan from Aberdeen.

Righty Scott Copeland is also going from Delmarva to Frederick while the Shorebirds are activating pitcher Josh Dowdy off the disabled list and get right-hander Jake Cowan from Aberdeen.

Pitcher Tyler Wilson, the Orioles’ 10th-round pick from this June out of the University of Virginia, is moving from Gulf Coast League to Aberdeen after pitching in two games with three scoreless innings for the GCL O’s.

The 21-year-old Henry is someone worth watching. In 20 games at Delmarva he went 4-0 with an ERA of 1.67. Over 37 2/3, he gave up 31 hits with six walks, 29 strikeouts and a 2.48 ground to air out ratio.

Henry was a pitcher the Orioles drafted, even after he had Tommy John surgery as high school senior in Oklahoma. He had some setbacks from that and was limited to 23 innings this year.

They are limiting his innings somewhat again this year, being cautious with him, but like his arm and potential and he has been showing that potential this season. He can pitch with velocity usually in the low 90’s and top out a tick or two above that. I have heard he also has added a cut fastball this year.

Another pitcher throwing well right now is 20-year-old right-handed David Baker, who pitched 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball for Delmarva last night against Lakewood on three hits.

Baker, a 14th-round pick in 2009, went 1-2, 2.45 at Aberdeen and now, in four starts with the Shorebirds, is 2-1 with a 1.37 ERA. He has allowed one run or less in three of his four starts with a .161 batting average against.
